IIM Announces - Registration Extended For CAT 2015 Till 25th September:
In an official notification on CAT 2015 website, the convening authority IIM, Ahmedabad has made an announcement on the 19th of September that the last date for CAT registration is extended to 25th of September 2015. So, aspiring candidates can register and can make payment before 11:59 pm on the 25th of September. Earlier, the last date was announced as 20th September 11:59 pm. Now, this opportunity is provided by the convening authority to ease the last minute tension for candidates, who have completed the registration process, but are yet to pay the fee towards the test, which is generally the final step in the registration process.
What happened last year?
When IIM, Ahmedabad was asked about the reason for extension, Prof. Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, the faculty and Admission chair in this IIM said that until last Friday, they have got around 1,38,000 registrations. He also said that with the extension of five more days, the CAT 2015 registration will go up to around 2 lakhs.
From the recent records, the year 2009 had the highest number of applicants for the management entrance test and the number was 2, 90,000. Last year also, there was an extension of the last date as compared to the previously announced date. This extension is known to have extended 7000 more registrations for the 2014 examination. So, the number of applicants reached 1, 96,000 in the year 2014.
It is believed that this extension of the last date might be with a view to provide better room for aspiring applicants for IIMs to register for the test, if they have failed to do the same until the 19th of September. Also, this was done to make the application fee payment easier for the candidates, who have already completed the CAT 2015 registration, but are yet to pay the fee.
Notification:
According to the CAT 2015 notification, the registration process started on the 6th of August and the end date was announced at 20th of September and now the extension is announced. No specific CAT syllabus was announced and however, there will be some changes in the pattern of the test, which will be held on the 29th of November 2015.
CAT test is conducted for admission to the management programme in IIMs and management faculty of IITs. Not just these institutions, many other top institutions admit students based on this score. So, the extension opportunity can be rightly used by the aspiring candidates to get their admission to the dream management course in one of the top B-school in India.
